Double cleansing originates from Korea, and has established itself to be the standard for anyone looking to achieve clear skin using this method as a basis for their regimen. Additionally, with many centuries worth of traditional practices behind this revolutionary skincare technique, and with the greatest combination of tradition and science, the systems developed around this regimen have transformed the global skincare industry.
Double cleansing is like a dance between two different cleansers—starting with the oil-based cleanser, which helps to remove the make-up, dirt and oil that has accumulated on your face throughout the day. This first step helps to dissolve away everything on your skin’s surface, because oil is used to break down all residual from the day—water can’t effectively remove oil or dirt from your face alone.
Once you have dissolved away everything on the first step, you move to the second step—the water-based cleanser. A water-based cleanser works to remove those impurities that have built up inside your pores, like sweat and dirt. In addition to this, the second step also leaves your skin with a deep clean feel. When you use a double cleansing regimen, you keep intact your skin’s acid mantle, which is the first line of defence against any bacteria that may cause infection. The double-cleansing method is gentle enough for everyday use, while being effective in maintaining the pH balance of your skin, leading to healthier skin. Also, numerous scientific studies have provided evidence that shows the effectiveness of double cleansing.
Unsurprisingly, studies show double cleansing improves texture and clarity. Particularly for acne-prone or sensitive skin, finding the right products Creates an experience that borders on perfection. Ultimately, it’s a merging of old-world tradition, along with cutting-edge technology and science. The end result is products that provide the same types of results and experience as Korean skin care products, while also having an element of the company’s nurturing aspect.

Hi there, great article! I was wondering what cleansing duo would be best for combination skin, as I often have a hard time adjusting my skincare products to my skins’ needs. Or could I possibly use two different compatible products together from this list?
Hi Charlie! Finding the best cleanser for you can definitely be a trial and error experience. Personally, I have combination skin and have found that the HaruHaru Wonder Cleansing Gel is quite gentle and doesn't strip my skin! Try this one out and let me know what you think :).
Thanks for the advice! I’ve heard of the Round Lab Dokdo series before, so I’ll be sure to try that out.
Thanks Jay, Let us know how it goes! :)
Hi! I actually saw my sister using the Clean It Zero cleansing balm with great success. I’ve recently started using it as well to remove any makeup before my second cleanse, and it works great!
Hi there Jacqueline, glad to hear that! The Banila Co. Clean It Zero cleansing balm is also one of my favourites :).
Hi. If I continue using a glass skin based routine but I want my makeup to be matte, do you think these two routines will clash? Would love to get your thoughts.
Hi Yolanda, such a good question! A 'glass skin' skincare routine is very centred around hydrated skin, however doesn't necessarily clash with matte makeup—in fact, it creates a smoother, hydrated base that prevents cakey makeup. Just let your skincare absorb fully before applying matte products, and use a light dusting of powder if needed. Hydrated skin actually helps matte makeup look better!
